Information Technology: Infrastructure and Competence Coburg and the entire region of Upper Franconia in the North of Bavaria have earned an excellent reputation as an IT location. There are 30 companies from the information technology sector in Coburg alone as well as 600 jobs in or related to IT, with a consistent upwards trend. In addition, the University of Applied Sciences offers outstanding competence in the field of computer science.
The technical infrastructure can easily be compared to that of German agglomeration areas – ring structures with high bit rates achieve transmissions of up to 10 gigabits per second. Furthermore, the region boasts an optical fibre coverage of more than 90 percent, which is complemented by a selection of powerful city carriers. Network - location links with more than 100 megabits per second are the order of the day.
In view of this first-class infrastructure, it comes as no surprise that some of the IT companies based at the business location Coburg are among the most successful throughout Germany.
